About:
The Benini Galleries and Sculpture Ranch /color>/fontfamily>
is located in the Texas Hill Country, six miles west of Johnson City, about
an hour’s drive from Austin and from San Antonio. The project is open for
visitations from ten to six Friday, Saturday and Sunday.. We do live and work on the ranch
so if you are travelling or need to check another day, call us..
Originally established in Central Florida in 1978 as Benini’s studio, this
fine arts project has evolved into a facility that includes a 14,000 sq.ft.
Studios Building with a fine arts library, exhibit galleries featuring 40
years of Benini’s paintings, and guest Italian artists, as well as the
Sculpture Ranch on the surrounding 140 acres. /color>
/color>The term Sculpture Ranch was chosen
to reflect the strong environment of the Texas Hill Country. The area was
settled by Germans in 1847 with the help of a treaty with the Comanches in
the region. The Texas Hill Country is a preferred destination of Texans and
out-of-state tourists, known for charming villages, wildflowers, longhorns
and mountain vistas. Proximity to Austin and San Antonio allows easy
accessibility to two international airports and major highways. /color>
/color>The Mediterranean-like setting
provides a showcase for contemporary talent as national and international
artists are placing large-scale, contemporary sculpture on the grounds. Many
of the sculptures are for sale. In the event of a preference for
commissioned works, collectors can also work directly with the artists.
The sculptures are accessible by roadways, or by walk paths. Plenty of
parking is available at the Studios Building. Most school buses and smaller
buses can continue throughout the ranch. Call ahead for transportation need
with larger buses.
Tour Information: Educational and travel tours are welcome. Phone ahead.
Respect for the Artworks: Photography is permitted, however we ask that
you not touch. lean on, sit on or climb on any of the artwork on display.
