Limestone Heads
30 ft. & Steel Pipes
POR.
The site of Cycladics: Then and Now before installation.
Lysaght obtained the stones and had them
delivered to his Austin studio
where he began the lengthy process of carving the stones,
and drilling the holes that would allow the heads to slide onto the
erected pipes.

After months of this work, Alamo
Cranes loaded the huge limestone heads and delivered them to the
site. Cement bases were prepared. More site preparation and on-site
welding prepared the steel pipes for their massive load.
Then, on a windy day in May, Perry Crane from Kerrville lifted the
massive heads, one weighing 8700 pounds, the other 7800 pounds and
one by one lowered them to slide onto the pipes, with less than an
inch circumference leeway to achieve the installation. |
